I saw John Scalzi was having a bit of a tiff with some douchebag named Vox Day and I went and read his material. Vox Day is one of those rightwing nutcases who has been on the computer for so long that he calls himself a Christian libertarian.
He also spends a great deal of time on his blog calling himself an ALPHA - as opposed to Scalzi who is a Gamma. This is the quintessential tough guy posturing. It gets even more fun because he says that he is an alpha and that means that he will never stop fighting. He will only keep hitting and even if you walk away you better watch your back because the alphas must be the dominant ones and he's the dominant one.
So he thinks he's a wolf.
He also has a woefully misinformed idea of the internet. If you fight on the internet, you don't keep fighting until your opponent goes down. You are not in a fight club. You keep spewing your shit until people stop looking. And then you can spew your shit repeatedly and if John Scalzi refuses to say anything more about you, you can call yourself victorious.
But if an asshole talks shit on the internet and no one is looking, does he make a sound?
So Scalzi will continue to write his blog, give money to charities, write books that people like and buy and read. And Vox Day will call him a Gamma rabbit or whatever other stupid insult he can think up. Every so often, people will come by and point and laugh at him. But he's not winning. He's not even fighting. He's just shadowboxing.
